Cost splits

Apply a cost split at pay element or employee level to show on the nominal journal.

If you need to categorise further on the nominal journal you can create costs splits to allow a percentage of pay to fall under a separate nominal code. To do this, follow the relevant section below.

Create categories

Once you have selected category as part of your nominal structure, you can create nominal categories, do to this follow the steps below.

  1. Click System, and then click Application Configuration.

  2. Click Payroll Configuration, and then click the Nominal Categories tab.

  3. Enter the following for each category required.

    • Category code

    • Category name

    • Category nominal

  4. Click Save and Close.


Pay element

  1. Click Payroll and then click Employees.

  2. Find and select the required employee.

  3. Click Standard Pay, and then find and select the required pay element.

  4. Click Open Pay Element, and then click the Categories tab.

  5. Click the Code dropdown, and click the required category.

  6. Enter the desired split percentage.

  7. Click Save and Close.


Employee

To process splits at employee level, first, you need to enable category splits on each pay element taken into account.

Enable category splits

  1. Click Payroll and then click Employees.

  2. Find and select the required employee.

  3. Click Standard Pay, and then find and select the required pay element.

  4. Click Open Pay Element, and then click the Categories tab.

  5. Select the checkbox, Use category splits at employee level.

  6. Click Save and Close.

  7. Repeat steps 3 to 6 for each required pay element.

Enter categories

  1. Click Payroll and then click Employees.

  2. Find and select the required employee.

  3. Click Open Employee, and then click Categories.

  4. Click the Code dropdown, and click the required category.

  5. Enter the desired split percentage.

  6. Click Save.
