Processing a death in service uses the leaver process; however, you will not be able to produce a P45. To process this, follow the steps below.
๐Note: HMRC advise processing the final pay on NI letter X.
Click Payroll, and then click Employees.
Find and select the required employee.
Click Open Employee, then click the General tab.
Click the NI letter dropdown and select letter X.
Click Save, and then click Leavers.
Click Next, enter the date of death in the date left field.
Select the deceased checkbox.
If required;
Enter a reason.
Select the checkbox to process pay this period.
๐คTip: If the information has been entered at the top of the wizard, click Apply default values, to apply it to the employee.
Click Next, and then click Update.
