Ordinarily, parental pay is calculated in whole weeks; however, HMRC allow parental pay to match your earnings periods by paying part weeks. For more information, see the sections below.
๐Note: If a week is part-paid, the remainder must be paid in the following period.
Enable the option
The align to pay date option is found during the creation of a parental record.
Calculating part weeks
๐Note: Statutory payments are always divided by 7.
Initially, SelectPay will calculate the whole weeks to pay; if the last week is partial, this is determined by the parental pay calculation chosen, it will calculate the number of days to pay.
The calculation for a partial week is the weekly parental pay divided by 7, then multiplied by the number of days from the start of the week, to the pay date or earnings period date.
Subsequent pay periods
Any further periods of parental pay will first check to see if the previous period ended on a part week. If so, it will pay the remainder. Then repeat the same process again.
If the previous week didn't end on a partial week. The initial calculation is used.
