The error message is caused by the employer's pension reference field being over 7 characters on an LGPS or TPS pension pay element.
If you do not know the employee who may be causing the error message, raise a case referencing the title of this article.
If you know who the employee is, follow the steps below.
📌Note: The ER's reference field is only available for LGPS and TPS pension types.
Click Payroll, then click Employees.
Find the required employee, then click Standard Pay.
Select the pension pay element, then click Open Pay Element.
Click the Pension tab, then change the ER's Reference field to be 7 characters or less.
All characters count towards the character limit of the field.
Click Save and Close.
