Employees who are due to start or are currently receiving parental pay, if their child spends time in neonatal care, are eligible for one week of statutory neonatal care pay (SNCP) for each week their child is in neonatal care. To add neonatal care to an employee, follow the steps below.
Before adding SNCP, there are a few things to consider:
Eligibility checks must be completed outside of SelectPay. Utilise HMRC's guide to confirm this.
SNCP is for statutory payments only; occupational pay must be processed under a separate pay element.
Payments made under the SNCP pay element will automatically be deducted from the amount to HMRC on the statutory return.
Click Payroll, and then click Run Payroll.
Find and select the required employee.
In amend pay, right-click in the pay element section.
Click Add Pay Element, and then double-click SNCP.
Enter the required rate and quantity.
Click Save.
