Multiple periods in a single nominal journal are caused by not running the nominal export in previous periods. If you wish to have the nominal contain only one period's figures, you will need to restore before period end and process the nominal journal.
If restoring is not a practical option, you can process the nominal journal while it contains multiple periods, and continue processing a period at a time going forward.
