Error: 'No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it'

When trying to email payslips to employees, I get the error, No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.

The error message is generated when SelectPay detects incorrect SMTP details for the mail server, or the mail server can't be reached. To correct this, follow the relevant section below.

Hosted

Raise a case with our support team, who will be able to provide further information on the cause.

On-premise

You will need to contact your local IT team to confirm the cause of the error, and if changes need to be made to your SMTP details, the location can be found below.

  1. Click System, and then click Application Configuration.

  2. Click System Configuration, then click the Communication tab.

  3. Make any updates required, then click Save and Close.
