When running multiple payroll databases, it may become necessary to switch the primary and secondary databases as company requirements change. To do this, follow the steps below.
Things to consider when changing the primary database.
If used, ensure the apprentice levy is set up on the new primary.
We recommend making this change in period 1 of a new tax year.
Note: If you're making this change partway through a tax year. When completing the first statutory return on the new primary database, you will need to manually enter the year-to-date figures from the previous primary database.
Original primary
Click System, and then click Company Details.
Click the HMRC tab.
Deselect the checkbox Master Database.
Original secondary
Click System, and then click Company Details.
Click the HMRC tab.
Select the checkbox Master Database.
