When submitting the FPS or EPS I get the error message, The submission cannot be accepted as it does not fall within the eligible filing period.

The error message, The submission cannot be accepted as it does not fall within the eligible filing period, can have multiple causes, some of which are listed below;

  • The PAYE scheme is closed.

  • The PAYE scheme hasn’t started yet or was registered after the submission date.

  • The scheme has ceased, and the cessation date is before the submission date.

    • Or HMRC set a cessation date, and your submission is for a period after that date.

In order to submit the data to HMRC, you will need to contact HMRC to ensure the submission service is enabled for you. Once it is enabled, attempt the submission again.
